Dreyer, film propaganda and cognitive theory
In 1946, Carl Th. Dreyer's short film Vandet paa Landet ("The Water in the Country") was shelved because it was feared that it might harm Danish agriculture's image abroad. In this new article by Casper Tybjerg, Dreyer's short film is used to show how we can combine a rhetorical and a cognitivist approach in an analysis that can explain both the film's propagandistic features and the significance of the disgust it evokes in the viewer.

The Carl Th. Dreyer Award 2013
Nikolaj Arcel, director of Denmark's Oscar contender "A Royal Affair", received the Carl Th. Dreyer Award 2013. Previous winners include Susanne Bier, Mads Brügger, Lone Scherfig and Lars von Trier.
Joan of Arc on Blu-ray
The Masters of Cinema Series in the United Kingdom release Dreyer's "The Passion of Joan of Arc" on Blu-ray and DVD. The element used for the release was supplied by the Danish Film Institute and put through an exclusive high-definition restoration. The supplemental booklet features: a new essay by Casper Tyberg, reprints of archival writings by Dreyer himself, as well as photographs of physical set-models and production stills, all reprinted in high-resolution courtesy of the Danish Film Institute.
EUFF Toronto featuring Vampyr
The European Union Film Festival screens Dreyer's "Vampyr" 17 November 2012 at the festival cinema in Toronto. EUFF 2012 runs from 14-27 November.

Joan of Arc in Pordenone
PORDENONE SILENT FILM FESTIVAL. One of the orchestral event at the Pordenone film festival will the presentation of Carl Th. Dreyer's La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc with a new score composed by Touve Ratovondrahety. The event will take place 9 and 10 October 2012 in the Duomo of Pordenone.
Jeanne d'Arc Triumphs Again
British film magazine Sight & Sound has revealed the results of its latest ‘The Greatest Films of All Time’ poll, which comprises 100 titles. Dreyer features with no less than three films, with La passion de Jeanne d’Arc impressively securing 9th place.
Drum's eight interviews with Dreyer
INTERVIEW. In February 1967 professor Dale D. Drum did eight interviews with Dreyer. In January 2012 we put three of these on the Dreyer website. Now the other five interviews have been digitized and are on the website.
